imthecomfortoftheirworld asked: Why not dA and what site would you suggest
For a while there were rumors about dA using people’s art for their advertisements and such. They were able to do so legally because, when signing up to the site and accepting the terms and agreements, the user gives up rights to their art. So dA was able to use someone’s art and I don’t believe the artist was paid or given credit. I don’t know how entirely true this is, and they might have changed their policy because that turned out to be a huge fiasco, but I just don’t trust them.
Plus, you might find that the community there isn’t as serious as you might want to be a part of. Some people on there are serious artists, naturally. I don’t really know of any sites where it would be really helpful, but maybe try uploading images to something like Photobucket and then providing links to your work? You just have to be super careful whenever posting your art online, is all.

… and never upload photos in their full resolution. If you find yourself in a situation where the site’s TOS allows them to use your work: they’ll only have a lower res copy to work with, and not the real deal.
